What are the warning signs that a North Texas exterior needs paint?
Check the sun-facing sides first
South- and west-facing trim usually takes the hardest UV load. Compare those elevations with the shaded side of the house to see how far the finish has moved.
- Chalk on your hand after touching siding
- Cracked caulk at windows and trim
- Peeling at fascia, soffits, or door frames
- Soft or darkened wood
- Bare end grain at fence boards
Repair before coating
Painting over soft wood or open joints delays the visible failure without fixing it. Carpentry and caulk belong before primer and finish paint.
